Crossley Sanatorium occupies a 66 acre site largely surrounded by forest and woodland.  Alongside the main hospital building and the nurses accommodation, the Crossley Sanatorium complex featured numerous ancillary buildings, including a mortuary, pathology laboratory, work houses, boiler houses, attendants cottages, games room, incinerator block and an isolation block.
